Motorbike Holiday Idea

“Everyone knows that roads round here are great for motorbiking. If you are a biker, there are countless circuits waiting to roll out their tarmacked carpet in your honour whilst you marvel at the beautiful landscape.

Le Camping la Beaume campsite is a great pit stop for bikers. We have our very own sidecar so, don’t worry, we know what we are talking about.”

Biker Stays at the campsite

For motorcycle clubs, we recommend a half-board option. This includes a three-course evening meal served with a glass of local wine, the boss’s own ‘digestif’ alcoholic drink to round off your meal and breakfast in the morning; all enjoyed with your fellow bikers.

For local bikers, we can serve a midday meal on request so you can go for a quick spin and then come back to the campsite for lunch.

Gorges du Verdon by motorbike : Motorbike trips in the Verdon

  • Take the time to Arrive : As you pull up at the campsite, feel free to ask for a block to put under your motorbike stand if you are worried it will sink into the ground; although usually the ground is hard enough for that not to happen. Take your time to settle in, have a drink and a chat with other campers and Bertrand, champion of the road, for any last-minute advice. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant and relax.

  • The Esparron-de-Verdon’s Road (50km) : Camping la Beaume is centrally located so it easy to scoot off in all directions. For your first day, we recommend staying local and not to ride too far. Take the road to Gréoux-les-Bains, it’s beautiful, and head on towards Vinon-sur-Verdon. If it’s a Sunday, you can visit the market. Pack yourself a picnic of local delights to eat by the lake, Lac d’Esparron, whilst you sunbathe.
  • Gorge Road (200 km) : Now we’re really getting into this. First stop, the Gorge! Take the road to Sainte Croix then Moustiers-Sainte-Marie stopping off along the way to enjoy the spectacular views. Then, it’s off to the Routes des Gorges! To access the Rive Gauche ‘left bank’, take the road to La Palud-sur-Verdon with a quick detour via the Route des Crêtes to see the griffon vultures, then join the road again towards Castellane. Take the Rive Droite ‘right bank’ direction Trigance and Aiguines for the return. The road takes you around Lac Sainte Croix lake via Bauduen, Baudinard and St Laurent du Verdon. A whole day out on the road with plenty to feast your eyes on!
  • Circuit in department of the Var (83) (80km) : A shorter circuit so that you have time to rest. Take the road to Quinson, then towards Regusse, Aups and Salernes (famous for its pottery). Stop at Sillans-la-Cascade for a picnic and stretch your legs on the 20-minute walk down to the waterfall. Return via the hilltop village of Fox-Amphoux, Tavernes, Montmeyan and Quinson where you can stop and take a walk in les Basses Gorges (Lower Gorge). You can always extend your journey by 30km via la Verdière, St Julien and Gréoux-les-Bains passing the vineyards of the Var on your way.
  • Riez and Beyong Circuit ( 80km) : Follow signs to Riez and, if it’s market day, you simply must stop to buy a delicious picnic. Take direction Digne-les-Bains to Estoublon. Enjoy your picnic in the Gorges du Trevans, then head back to Puimoisson via la Bégude on the D953 that skirts the edge of the plateau. Return to Esparron de Verdon via the Plateau de Riez.

Stop off for lunch or coffee. Come back via St Etienne-les-Orgues, then Banon where you can visit France’s largest rural independent bookshop (as legendary as the village itself). Head towards Rustrel to visit les Ocres de Provence, and back via Céreste, Montfuron (good views), Manosque and Gréoux-les-Bains.
  • Sea Circuit : If this is not your departure day, then it’s time to head off to the coast! Follow signs to Montmeyan, Rians, Trets through Aubagne and down to Cassis to visit les Calanques.
